Sunscreen Sprays: Believe the Hype
A revolution is afoot in the sunscreen aisles.
It was last summer that those aerosols that emit a mist of lightweight sunscreen lotion began gaining traction in the market.
This year, the sunscreen sprays are displacing regular suntan lotion on drugstore shelves everywhere. There’s a huge array of brands offering the sprays: Coppertone, Clarins, Banana Boat, even Dr. Hauschka…
I finally bit the bullet and bought a can myself, simply the CVS version. And I can’t believe what a godsend it is. This is good stuff. No more sticky hands, patchy coverage and long waits for the lotion to take effect. The aerosol makes it easy to spray hard-to-reach areas like backs. And unlike lotions, you needn’t rub it in. It’s faster to use. And you don’t risk missing some skin since the aerosole allows you to better coat large areas.
Plus, it dries fast. No more sliding around on those hot leather seats on the way to the pool, thanks to unabsorbed, greasy lotion.
The CVS version is only $7.99 for its Sport 50 SPF spray.
The sole detraction: Since it’s so easy to use, you tend to use a lot. Then again, your back will thank you.
